Health Equity Policy & Advocacy Clinic -- Environmental Justice Division
Grading: 6-letter graded credits
Prof. Emily Benfer and Prof. Christine Appah-Gyamfi
Student attorneys participating in the Environmental Justice (EJ) division will represent or collaborate with nonprofit organizations and coalitions to engage in regulatory advocacy on an environmental justice matter that affects the well-being of low-income, historically marginalized communities. Students will become familiar with the advocacy process, engage in problem solving, and develop the legal skills needed to advance regulatory campaigns.
The EJ division will participate in seminars with, and learn from the experience of, the Individual Client Representation (healthy and stable housing in a medical-legal partnership) and Federal Policy Advocacy (U.S. housing policy) Divisions. Students should preference their ideal division in their application to the HEPA Clinic.
